Jesus came with the New Wine, and He came with new beginning, fresh start, new things that we have not heard of. For example, pray for your enemies, love your enemies, even those who persecute you.
It might be difficult for some of us, but this is the Kingdom of God.
The Book of Matthew 9:14-17 tells us, “The disciples of John came to Jesus, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?” And Jesus said to them, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast. No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
The disciples of John the Baptist and the Pharisees operated by the old ways of doing things, for example, the law and The Mosaic (Moses) covenant, but Jesus came with something much better. (Something New, the Kingdom of God).
Jesus did not come to mix the old ways of doing things with the new ways of doing things, because they will not work well together.
The old cloth and the new cloth cannot be stitched together because it will surely tear. Jesus used this example of wineskin, to explain how the Jewish tradition enhances the light of His preaching about the Kingdom of God.
New Wine is the Kingdom of God.
I have a question. What happened in your life that you are not able to let go?
What old wine in your life that you cannot let go? Please Let go of the old wine. What is that old wine that you find difficult to let go?
Customs and Traditions.
There is a town in River State called Okrika, and once a year or so young ladies would have a ceremony that is called Iria, where young women who are of age would wear certain traditional clothes, bear chest, would then dance in a public area.
The people Onitsha in Eastern part of Nigeria, also hold a ceremony call Oso and Odu. The individuals hold expensive ceremonies to gain titles. (Millions of Naira). Pure waste of money. (Old Wine)
Please remember, anything that is not of God invites demons.
Please let go of the Old Wine.
Let go of deceit, lies, gossiping, Abuse, Idolatry, Adultery.
I have a Question:
What is that old wine that you find difficult to let go?
Please let go and receive the New Wine. The love of Christ is enough for you and me. His hands are stretched out right now towards you and me, please grab or take hold of His hands and let go of the old wine.
Jesus brings newness that cannot be restricted, our old ways of doing things must be done with. The Old Wine and the New Wine cannot coexist, we must embrace the new and let go of the old.
Before the Lord rescued me, for several years, I was in deep darkness and in deep thoughts daily for hours about my past. I just refused to let go, my mistakes, disobedience, I allowed abuse in my life, why? How can I let go? The old wine.
Jesus wants our hearts to be transformed like new wineskin, a new heart that is ready to receive the Holy Spirit. (New Wine, Fresh Wine, New beginning).
The Lord wants us to grow in His Love and Truth, and a new heart to receive the Precious Holy Spirit. A heart like His own. Meek, Loving, caring, merciful, compassionate, trustworthy, forgiving and kind.
Love should never grow old, especially the new commandment to love one another as Jesus loves us. Yes, love improves with age, so does the good wine. “Love is the end of the law.” (Romans 13:10) (NIV).
For in Him dwells all the fullness of the GodHead bodily. (Colossians 2:9) (NKJV).
PRAISE THE LORD.
